I'm Not sure about these reviews that are less than 4 stars. Tonight my husband and I went to have dinner and we had an awesome experience. We sat at the bar where we were greeted by a great friendly bartender. We order empanadas... ooooooh my gosh the garlic shrimp were incredible. We also were given chips while we waited . They were very good. We order 2 cubano sandwiches , absolutely delicious!! I can't wait to Go back for the snapper!!! Great vibe too

So much discussion it was on the list to go even before it made the news. Yea Gordon Ramsey was there. I can't compare before and after, however I will say they are a solid lunch. Shrimp and sausage app was tasty including the bread. Beer selection was good but we sat across From the bar and watched her make some delicious drinks. The sangria looked worthy. I'll save that for a later date. My bride got the Cuban. She loves trying them in many places. Diagonal cut of course but still could have used a bit more inside to fill the end of the roll. I had the steak plate. Outstanding! Cooked perfectly and although flank isn't typical in Cuban food. It was worth the effort. Owner came out and visited tables. She replies on here about reviews and is quite lively. All In all, a solid 4. Lunch sandwich, app, steak plate and two beers was a bit steep for Toms River. $77. Roll up an honest tip to $90. Please don't let that stop you from trying. The place is very clean and certainly not typical of Shore food. Good luck!

Came here Sunday night with my mother for dinner. In contrast to early reviews our waitress was extremely attentive, informative, and helpful. Early reviews stated that this was a BYOB I was disappointed when we got here and found that it was not. That disappointment was quickly assuaged when the waitress offered us sangria. Sangria was good, a little too sweet for me, but my mother enjoyed it thoroughly. We shared the garlic shrimp and chorizo appetizer which was very tasty. At first impression I thought the serving was small, but I believe it was intended for one person and we were sharing. The shrimp were tender and the chorizo was good. It was served in a red sauce which is different than the Spanish garlic and oil style. I have to say I like both preparations very much. When we were finished my first impression was disproved. It was the perfect amount to whet our appetites for what was to come. Dinner for me, at the waitress' suggestion, was the spice rubbed pork Tenderloin. Tender was an understatement! The loin was cooked to perfection, expertly seasoned and delicious! The accompanying rice & beans and plantains lived up to expectations, nothing exceptional but good enough. Mom had the Ropa Vieja which was also very good. I'd say all in all it was a very good meal at a reasonable price and I will go back again without hesitation. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I have to make a slight amendment to my review above. I had the leftover Ropa Vieja for dinner tonight. Even reheated this dish was fabulous. The short rib was melt in your mouth tender and the flavor was fantastic!

My family and I have eaten here. Being of Cuban descent, I (we) were very hesitant to eat here. As it's never like your grandmother's cooking. I can agree that the service could have been better, nonetheless the food was good. Reading most of the posts leads me to believe that what people don't know will always have poor reviews. Bringing a Cuban restuarant in Tom's River is going to be tough to sell, specially when the folks are so use to the typical Lobster Shanty or Wharf Side. ( I lived there, so hold your comments). I recently made reservations for a table of 11 for this Saturday the 19th. I'm truly interested to see what Ramsey brought to the table. ( He's full of ) Just a word of advice to the impatient folks. Waiting 30 minutes for dinner is common. Specially when it comes to authentic food. Enjoy your appetizer, your beverage and the company your with and the food will come. If your looking to eat and run, then you should go to Xina, where they just rush you out. I was more upset of the pre-made Sangria. Once it arrived, the ice was already melted and sangria was watered down. Making real Sangria (not premix) from scratch, is very easy. Red Wine, 7up, Brandy, orange juice and a ton of fruit cut up. Even better made the night before. Look for my review after our visit this Saturday or join us so we can teach what you don't know. Very sad to see what Chef Ramsey did to this restaurant. When I visited this place in July, it was packed. My recent visit, place was empty with just three tables filled. The party and myself felt very bad to leave the establishment, however, 9 grown men need to eat.I didn't see anything that needed to be changed on the menu. I think the staff waiting on the tables needed to be addressed. Hopefully @Caneda's White Rooster can recover.

We went here with 6 people and had 2 orders of the empanadas and grilled octopus for appetizers, the empanadas were absolutely delicious and the octopus was fresh and tasty with tangerine and fennel mandolin sliced thin. Dinner we had 2 orders of the churrasco cooked to perfection 1 medium and 1 med rare, Arepa shrimp with sweet corn jalapeño and avocado vinaigrette,Cameron con Rum, Ropa Viaje", Lechon Asada. It was probably the best tasting meal I have had in a while I had the Arepa shrimp, everyone at the table had a great meal the service was right on also Brandon is an assist for the staff, I hope he is recognized by the ownership. Im really not sure of some of the bad reviews,we had 2 apps and 6 dinners they were all delicious and cooked perfectly. The shrimp dish flavors went perfectly together, we shared them. I will be going back..
